Total Shoulder Replacement (Anatomic TSR)
Total shoulder replacement involves replacing both the humeral head and glenoid surface with prosthetic components while maintaining the normal anatomy. It is indicated in patients with intact rotator cuff and end-stage osteoarthritis or inflammatory arthritis. The success of the procedure depends on precise glenoid component placement and healthy cuff function. Patients typically experience substantial pain relief and restored range of motion. Anatomic TSR is not ideal for those with cuff deficiency, as it may lead to early loosening or failure. Postoperative rehabilitation focuses on passive-to-active range of motion and gradual strengthening.
