Shoulder dislocation (instability)
Bony Bankart Repair
A bony Bankart lesion occurs when a fragment of the glenoid rim is avulsed along with the labrum during an anterior dislocation. These lesions reduce the glenoidโs concavity, increasing instability. Bony Bankart repair involves fixation of the bone fragment, typically using screws or suture anchors, to restore the original anatomy and stability of the joint. This technique is suitable for patients with moderate bone loss (typically under 15โ20%). Accurate assessment through CT imaging is essential for planning. Proper fixation of the bony fragment reduces the risk of persistent instability and enhances the success of concurrent soft tissue repair.
