Shoulder dislocation (instability)
Latarjet Procedure
The Latarjet procedure is indicated when there is significant glenoid bone loss (>15–20%) or when soft tissue procedures have failed. It involves transferring the coracoid process to the anterior glenoid, providing a bony extension and a dynamic muscular sling via the attached conjoint tendon. This triple effect—bone block, sling effect, and capsular tension—makes the Latarjet highly effective in preventing recurrence. It is commonly used in contact athletes or revision settings. Long-term outcomes show excellent stability, although complications such as nerve injury or graft malposition can occur if not executed with precision.
